The Characteristics of Jackie robinson
His Characteristics
Jackie Robinson had many amazing characteristics to his name. His was one of the most athletic kids at his high school and his college. According to Rudie Obias, "He played tennis, track and baseball. Jackie had a high temper. When fans tried to threaten him and his family, he would just ignore them which took a lot of discipline." This also helped him from fighting back against these fans. Robinson's baseball IQ helped him get to the Hall of Fame and become a baseball icon. Last but not least his love for the game kept him from quitting even after he was thinking about it. According to a scholastic interview with his wife Rachel she added more characteristics about him when asked what he was like as a person"We knew a man very capable of great love and commitment. I always felt especially fortunate to be loved by him and to experience his great tenderness. Even his vulnerability was more evident at home. He tended to be quiet and had great routines. He cherished the opportunity to gather the family together for dinner. Jack never drank or smoked, and felt that one respected the household by not using profane language at home - though I understand from his teammates that he could manage the language very well in the locker room. He had a very strong sense of responsibility. Even in the post-baseball period, he worked very hard to get into the civil rights movement, and to work on behalf of others. He had an interesting statement to make about what life meant to him, which the Jackie Robinson Foundation now uses. It was: that a life is not important, except in its impact on the lives of others."
